IXL and it's AI goodies!

IXL uses AI as a core component to augment learning and instruction. It builds upon and adjusts for student performance. Its four main components:

Personalized Learning Paths: tailored learning trajectory based on performance and proficiency

Adaptive Difficulty Adjustment: difficulty level adjusts based on performance

Real-Time Feedback and Self-Assessment: likelihood of a student understanding a concept based on response patterns

Natural Language Processing: writing and reading comprehension

A great feature of IXL is that it’s able to translate stories or text for ESL students with over 120 languages available, with some even having audio support. Translation support can be activated for specific students at any time.

Below is a link to a YouTube video discussing IXL and it's translation software:

IXL's AI software is called Spark Studio. Much like other AI's used in Canva or MagicSchool, the AI is used to support teacher planning and resources. It can create lesson plans, quizzes or interactive games based on given parameters.

  1. I'm bummed IXL will not be utilized by all my students at my next school, but I find comfort in knowing that I can request it if my student's IEP identifies it as a supplemental support. I found that that my ESL student last year made amazing progress with the consistent use of the program.
